The opening ceremonies each day started with a blessing of the ground and the flag prayer/song/parade.  The flags were not only national, provincial, local, but also for those killed in action (KIA) fighting for Canada.  In addition, there is an American flag.  When I asked why I was told because they were a nation long before the 49th parallel divided the land and the people.
